Hello, I have been reading up on the 15th Batalion AIF and their movements at Gallipoli, most sources I have read states they went ashore late in the afternoon of the 25th of April but at least one other publication states they did reach land until the next day, is there a definative account of their movements? Any help much appreciated.

I was under the impression that about half the battalion landed late on the 25th April and the rest landed the next day. They do have a unit history available that will probably cover it in more detail.

Thanks for all the helpful replies, a look at the 15th Battalion war diary states that they started to land at 4.00pm on the 25th but seems to indicate that the whole battalion was not fully disembarked until the early morning of the 26th, so really all of the sources I had read were right in what they said. I really have no way of knowing if the particular soldier I'm researching from the battalion would count as a first day lander or not until I can get more detailed information.

Regards

Stan
