Jo K Posted 17 August , 2010 Share Posted 17 August , 2010 Hi all Having nearly finished research on my Great Uncle, I am now moving on to my Grandfather. I have found a medal roll I copied a few years ago with the soldier concerned as a Private in L.C. 659 (th?) H.S.E. Coy. I have no idea at this stage whether this is my Grandfathers roll or not, but it would help to narrow down if I knew what the company mentioned is. Many thanks. Stebie9173 Posted 17 August , 2010 Share Posted 17 August , 2010 It will be the 659th Home Service Employment Company of the Labour Corps. Most of these companies stayed around a specific locality in the UK. I can check with Ivor Lee's book later, if he doesn't answer the question himself! Steve. Ivor Lee Posted 18 August , 2010 Share Posted 18 August , 2010 659 were stationed at Cork and would have supported military camps and hospitals in the area. Ivor
Jo K Posted 18 August , 2010 Author Share Posted 18 August , 2010 Thank you Steve and Ivor, I will have to look further into it as it could be a possibility.
