PhilB Posted 14 August , 2010 Share Posted 14 August , 2010 This is described as an old musician`s badge, 11cms x 10cms. I`m not familiar with it - is it WW1 or later?
headgardener Posted 14 August , 2010 Share Posted 14 August , 2010 I think that it's actually a bandmaster's badge. I've definately seen a fancier version of it on the dress uniform of a WW1 bandmaster.
squirrel Posted 15 August , 2010 Share Posted 15 August , 2010 Edward's and Langey has it as a musician's badge and pre WW1.

gnr.ktrha Posted 17 August , 2010 Share Posted 17 August , 2010 I have seen a number of copies of this badge on Ebay recently. The one above looks like the ones on their:o
Muerrisch Posted 18 August , 2010 Share Posted 18 August , 2010 nice copy, too! Musician. This version [well, the genuine one] produced briefly 1902 [service Dress] until about 1906 when the metal harp, crown and small wreath was intro. for SD. The original was also made in bullion for scarlet tunic and frock, with QV crown before 1902, and KC thereafter. Substantial overlap on band photos in SD, the 'old' badge as illustrated, and the new gilding metal one. Bit of a minefield this badge. Fortunately all my versions were acquired before 1984!
