Remembered Today:

Old Musicians Badge

I think that it's actually a bandmaster's badge. I've definately seen a fancier version of it on the dress uniform of a WW1 bandmaster.

Edward's and Langey has it as a musician's badge and pre WW1.

nice copy, too!

Musician. This version [well, the genuine one] produced briefly 1902 [service Dress] until about 1906 when the metal harp, crown and small wreath was intro. for SD.

The original was also made in bullion for scarlet tunic and frock, with QV crown before 1902, and KC thereafter.

Substantial overlap on band photos in SD, the 'old' badge as illustrated, and the new gilding metal one.

Bit of a minefield this badge. Fortunately all my versions were acquired before 1984!
