Mr Wig Posted 13 August , 2010 Share Posted 13 August , 2010 Yesterday I posted a topic regarding King Edward's Horse (A great uncle of mine served in the 1st KEH) Thanks for the responses, much appreciated folks ! I'm aware of the book 'History of King Edward's Horse' (The King's Overseas Dominions Regiment). Unfortunately, as an Aussie living Texas, library access to this book is non-existant. Could somebody possibly help me with a few more questions ? 1. When was the 1st KEH deployed to France for active duty ? 2. What actions / engagements did they take part in ? (I only know of Passchendaele, my great uncle was wounded there July 1917) Cheers Wig

Mr Wig Posted 13 August , 2010 Author Share Posted 13 August , 2010 Sotonmate, thanks for the link, much appreciated ! My great uncle was in 'C' Squadron, they were deployed in April 1915, being attached to 47th (London) Division. Later in June 1916 they moved to IV Corps, then in July 1917 they went to XVIII Corps. (my uncle was wounded and discharged in October 1917) So I guess the best shot would be to check out the engagements that the 47th, IV Corps, and XVIII Corps took part in ? Thanks again for your help. Cheers Wig
sotonmate Posted 13 August , 2010 Share Posted 13 August , 2010 Wig http://www.1914-1918.net/47div.htm Also there is a War Diary for C Squadron KEH from Apr 1915 to May 1916 where they have recorded their daily business. It is at the National Archives under WO95/2717 but is not yet digital and downloadable. There will be other WDs after that for their time in IV and XVIII Corps, but that will need tracking down.
