daggers Posted 11 August , 2010 Share Posted 11 August , 2010 I could not find, via the Search system, any previous reference to war diaries for XX Hussars. I am looking for anything around February 1915 which might mention Lieut BARR, serving with XX but on secondment from 3rd (KO) Hussars. He was killed in action and buried at Hooge Crater cemetery. Could anyone with the skill please check if anything is online, otherwise it is on the next list for a Kew visit. Daggers
Steven Broomfield Posted 11 August , 2010 Share Posted 11 August , 2010 Might be worth trying the regimental museum of the 14/20th Hussars (the post-war amalgamated regiment). It's in Preston and the curator is a pukka historian who has written books (though I'm blessed if I can remember his name). I've not visited, but it looks pretty good on the web. The regiment is now part of the King's Royal Hussars, for what it's worth.
