geofffox Posted 10 August , 2010 Share Posted 10 August , 2010 Dear Forum Members I am currently researching the German Army's Cavalry Divisions that were deployed in the Balkans between 1915 - 1918. In particular, I would be grateful for any information about the cavalry regiments and supporting units of the 1st, 3rd, 6th and 7th Cavalry Divisions. I am trying to to compile a detailed order of battle for these divisions while they served in the Balkans. I've consulted 'Histories of the Two Hundred and Fifty One German Divisions...' and Cron's 'Imperial German Army 1914 - 1918', but neither of these works provide a detailed examination of the individual cavalry divisions. Also, I understand that from 1915 onwards most cavalry divisions had been stripped of their horses and were employed as infantry divisions. However, did the cavalry regiments retain there origional titles i.e. 1st Dragoon, 12th Uhlan etc. or were they allocated new titles, and were these divisions deployed in the same manner as infantry divisions i.e. in front line positions during offensive operations?
