halibag3 Posted 8 August , 2010 Share Posted 8 August , 2010 Hi pals, This is certainly not the sole discrepancy in the records of Commonwealth soldiers buried in France, but I've noticed that 1605 Lance Cpl. Oscar William WATT of the 3rd Australian Pioneers has a special memorial in Ribemont Comm. Cem. Extension, near Albert, while the Roll of Honour at the AWM Canberra states he is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, with no mention whatsoever of his being also commemorated at Ribemont. Should we flag this up to the CWGC to put the record straight or does anybody have an explanation to this ? TO THE MEMORY OF 1605 LANCE CPL. O.W. Peter Bennett Posted 8 August , 2010 Share Posted 8 August , 2010 As the error seems to be at the AWM rather than the CWGC, I recommend that you copy both organisations. I found a similar discrepancy with a man buried in London Cemetery, High Wood. The AWM eventually amended their records.
