Pte Vincent 6th London Rgt - 1348, Southwold

Hi,

Can anyone tell me what, if anything, may exist for 6th London Regiment that is likely to document activities prior to their first overseas posting or indeed cover the activities of the 2nd and reserve battalions? I am particularly interested in the 6th London's home service at Southwold in 1916 and if any details may exist somewhere?

All you will get from the War Diaries is the preparation for the few days prior to embarking for France and Flanders. This covers :

1/2 Battalion shipped out Jan 1915 Diary WO95/1612

3/2 Battalion shipped out Aug 1915 Diary WO95/3001

1/6 Battalion shipped out Mar 1915 Diary WO95/2729

2/6 Battalion shipped out Sep 1915 Diary WO95/3005

Reserve Battalions didn't have War Diaries.

You might find some info on home training in any books on the Regiment or specific Battalions,or perhaps a published Diary of a participant.

You should look at this page from the Long Long Trail,as I can't see where a 6th was at Southwold in 1916 !
