Monnaux Posted 4 August , 2010 Share Posted 4 August , 2010 Hi, Could anyone tell me if the time spent by a soldier in the Special Reserve not count in his years of service. I'm asking this because I have two entries in the Surrey enlistment register for a soldier whom I'm researching, the first with the 3rd East Surrey (Special Reserve)on the 6/06/1910 and a second 5 months later in the 1st East Surrey (Regular army)on the 8/11/1910. His discharge certificate mentions that he enlisted on 8/11/1910 and discharged on 3/04/1919 having served 8 years and 147 days with the Colours and nil years nil days with the Army Reserve or Territorial Forces. The time spent in the Special Reserve is thus not mentionned and not taken into account in the years of service even in the The Reserve Is it so that the Special Reserve was not considered as Reserve or could there be another explanation? Thanks, Gerald
