Hi all,

On lookinfg for info on Sjt George Ross Thompson 1056, PPCLI, the Veterans Affairs Canada website displays several pictures of a ceremony held in Crest Cemetery (Nord) on 9 Nov 1998.

If my understanding is correct, that soldier had lain unidentified for 80 years in the Cambrai area, where Crest Cem. is located.

Could someone enlighten me on the circumstances leading to his positive identification (where, when, etc.) ? The VAC-ACC website doesn't say anything about that so perhaps one of the Canadian Pals on this forum (or any other member for that matter) has got the answer ?

Looking forward to any scrap of info.

Thanks in advance.

That's brilliant ! Thanks very much indeed, Johnny. I'll try to repay all the good souls who have helped me so far if I manage to post pictures on the forum (fingers crossed .. )

Cheers.
