Mates,

I have an AIF soldier who records service in this British Regt (TA) pre war.

Can you give me an idea of what Regt it could be as the only Surrey Regt is the East Surrey Regt?

I record the soldier as

SPALDING Walter Thomas 14564 Dvr AASC R Div LH LofC 27R May 1917 to AASC Dtls UK 10-17 to Gnr 5Bty/2 FAB 12-17 WIA 19-3-18 gas near Merris F&B

(British Surrey Rifles TA 2 years and Calcutta Sub Marine Miner) British TA

Stone Reeper 38 Bondi NSW and NOK Kingston upon Thames Kent UK

Enlisted 5-2-17 RTA 9-7-19

The other unit - Calcutta Sub Mariner Miner - seams a bit strange also?
