sotonmate Posted 31 July , 2010 Share Posted 31 July , 2010 Tony 2537 Alfred MITCHELL born and enlisted Bury,Lancs. Landed in France 4.5.1915 with the Highland Division which became 51 Division in mid-May.Died of wounds 2.10.1915. Likely to have been due to trench actions,sniping/artillery/raids etc.as no set battles at that time. The really heavy action was at Loos during this period. connaughtranger Posted 4 August , 2010 Share Posted 4 August , 2010 Hi PM me and I'll send scan of map of the trenches manned by the 51st Highland Division at Authuille. Although the map is 1916 little changed and nearly all the trenches have Scottish names Regards Martin
