crodgers Posted 14 July , 2010 Share Posted 14 July , 2010 Good morning all I am hoping someone can help me with a query I have regarding the service of Lt R.A. Hamer who was a member of the Royal Field Artillery. I found this bit of information when searching through the London Gazette from around 1914 through to 1920. I found and entry on the 5 March 1918 which states: '2nd Lt. R. A. Hamer to be Lt., with precedence as from 1st June 1916, and seniority next below Lt. (actg. C apt.) J. W. Lomas - 1st July 1917.' I have also searched the National archives with not a lot of success. I am in Australia so making a sneaky trip o/s would prove rather expensive. If anybody can assist with an further information I would be very grateful. Kind Regards Cam

crodgers Posted 18 July , 2010 Author Share Posted 18 July , 2010 Thanks for your help....I would have never found this by myself. I have another question if it isn't too much trouble For the life of me I can find any service records for him. I have searched and nothing is coming up...I thought if I could track his service number.....that might open a few more doors for me. Thanks for your time Cam

crodgers Posted 1 September , 2010 Author Share Posted 1 September , 2010 Bit more information to add to the collection. Second Lieutenant Reginald Albert Hamer, Royal Field Artillery, attached 1st Duke of York's Own Lancers (Skinner's Horse) (which was part of the 1st (Risalpur) Cavalry Brigade). Dated 7th September, 1917, ,but to rank from 15th January, 1917. After service in France the regiment was then ordered back to India where it concentrated in Rawalpindi in August, 1916 for operations in Afghanistan.
