high wood Posted 14 July , 2010 Share Posted 14 July , 2010 Can someone please tell me which Scottish regiments or battalions wore a plain (without a diced band) black or very dark blue glengary with a red tourie? I am thinking Cameron Hoghlanders but I am not sure what colour their tourie was. Thank you.
eveanne Posted 14 July , 2010 Share Posted 14 July , 2010 Dark blue glengarry with red tourie was worn by both the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders and the Royal Highlanders (Black Watch).

Grovetown Posted 14 July , 2010 Share Posted 14 July , 2010 Unhelpfully, the Simplified Glen - in blue with red tourie - introduced in December 1914 was also for issue to regiments with blue and diced glens with red touries. Consequently, they could be worn by the Argylls, Seaforths, Gordons, RSF, KOSB and RS. Picture below shows a KOSB private sporting the same. Cheers, GT. high wood Posted 15 July , 2010 Author Share Posted 15 July , 2010 And people wonder why I get confused. I have similar photographs in my collection to the ones posted and always thought that they were an anomaly. I wasn't aware of the simplified glengary.
