susan kitchen Posted 11 July , 2010 Share Posted 11 July , 2010 I would like to get hold of cap Badges for a private in the East Lancashire Regiment also a private in B coy1 st Battalion York and Lancaster Regiment and a private in the1 st Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment.. Is this possible. If so how easy would it be. I live in Essex. I have looked on line but there seems to be an overwhelming amount of places to look and so far haven't found what i'm looking for. Although the cap Badges wont have belonged the the above privates they would be a tangible reminder of what the cap Badges looked like. If you know what i mean. If anyone thinks i'm asking for the moon, i would be pleased to hear of any other suggestions regarding something else i could acquire instead. Susan. SFayers Posted 11 July , 2010 Share Posted 11 July , 2010 Hi Susan, Living in Essex, do you know Colchester at all? I'm afraid I can't remember the name of the shop (since it's over 13 years since I lived in the town!), but I believe there's still a shop at the bottom of Queen Street / St Botolphs Street that specialises in militaria and at least used to have all sorts of contemporary cap badges. If you can find the shop (maybe someone else on the forum knows the name and contact address?) it may be worth a visit. All the best Steve
7t2ndswinger Posted 11 July , 2010 Share Posted 11 July , 2010 It's Jeremy Tennyswood' shop. Here's a webite link. http://www.militaria.co.uk/ Alternatively you could try Clanfield Militaria http://freespace.virgin.net/lew.shotton/ or David Smith http://www.britisharmybadges.com/
wainfleet Posted 11 July , 2010 Share Posted 11 July , 2010 Susan The standard regimental badge is appropriate in each case, and they are fairly common and not expensive. These badges probably also exist in wartime all-brass economy versions, but the standard version is most typical. Brass shoulder titles for these regiments should also be easily and cheaply obtainable, if you wanted an example to go with each badge. I don't know David Smith, but can confirm that Clanfield Militaria has an excellent reputation and will not sell you a restrike. Regards, W. JulianB Posted 11 July , 2010 Share Posted 11 July , 2010 The East Lancs had an all GM "economy" badge, but the other two regiments mentioned did not.
Wardog Posted 11 July , 2010 Share Posted 11 July , 2010 Clanfield Militaria should be able to help. I've had no problems with badges from there. Regards, Paul.

susan kitchen Posted 13 July , 2010 Author Share Posted 13 July , 2010 Hi. Just to let you all know that i've been in contact with Clanfield and my cheque is winging it's way to them. They had two of the three cap Badges i were after, the Lincolnshire and the York and Lancaster. Also spoken to someone at Jeremy Tennyswood's shop. They have an Esat Lancashire Badge but advises me to go and see it. Anyway thanks to you all a good result. Susan.
Peter Doyle Posted 13 July , 2010 Share Posted 13 July , 2010 I don't know David Smith, but can confirm that Clanfield Militaria has an excellent reputation and will not sell you a restrike. David Smith gets my recommendation of these two (I've dealt with both). Peter
davec2 Posted 5 April , 2012 Share Posted 5 April , 2012 David Smith gets my recommendation of these two (I've dealt with both). Peter An old thread I appreciate that but I would agree with Peter, David Smith and Lew Shotton are both top people but Lew does have the odd ' wrong un ' as I know from experience ! but it doesn't stop me buying from him, they are both on my top sellers list anyway !!
