11th Battalion Cap Badge

Hi guys,

I picked up this cap badge over the weekend with a bunch of other insignia. I think it is a WWI 11th Battalion cap badge, that has some black paint in the nooks and crannies.The makers mark is Reichs Folkstone, marked on the back.

Is this thing authentic and over cleaned? Or faked?

I have found two pictures on the net of this badge and I think it is good, but I have found no pics of the back.

photos of 11th Btn badge at shop, guaranteed authentic by shop owner, slightly different than yours with more patina and no manufacturers mark on back, could be made at other shop

a P.S. lugs on back have been squeezed together I guess for mounting prurposes???

Thanks for the replies. Mine, I believe was black at some point also. There are remains of the black in all the nooks and crannies of this badge. Don't know when or who tried to clean it, but it is what it is now.

How common are these badges? I was reading up on the 11th battalion and it doesn't look like they were around for long, becoming the 11th reserve battalion once overseas.
