Hello,

I'm posting this on behalf of a friend. The photograph shows his grandfather, Robert Curry,

on the day of his marriage to Margaret Brown. They married in 1915. Robert was from Newbottle,

near Sunderland.

Any help with identification of uniform or unit would be much appreciated.

Regards,

Russ

Hi Russ - a bit small the photo, but I managed to download it and blew it up to a larger size and would think it's either the East Yorks or Cheshire Regt, as it appears star shaped with a scroll below. Sadly it blurs before you can get a good look at it.

Worth checking the Medal Index Cards for a Robert Curry serving with either, but the name 'Curry' is fairly common throughout the North East.

Hi,

I would suggest you check the Absentee Voter List for Newbottle, it willbe in the Houghton le Spring regisration district. County Durham AVL's are at County Hall in Durham

John
