Hi

I cant answer all your questions but here is a guide on the regiment - http://www.1914-1918.net/rireg.htm

as he first went in France it would seem to be 1st or 2nd and as the date does not tie up with any of the dates mentioned then it would seem he was a reinforcement and probably joined up early in the war

as for injuries you would need his service records - http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/records.htm

and battalion war records - http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/wardiaries.htm

read through these as well - http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/faq-whatnext.html

http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/swb.htm

hope you can find more

regards

Robert

Following on from Robert's advice, the answers to these questions should be answered by consulting the various Medal Rolls at the National Archives, Kew. It can't be done online so someone will have to go to Kew, either you or someone on your behalf. There are people on the forum who are not adverse to perfoming lookups at Kew if asked so you could try posting a request in the "Look-up, Photo and Document Requests" section of the forum and see what happens.

The references on the Medal Index Card will need translating into NA, Kew references and I believe these are the ones you want....
