I'd be most grateful if anyone could tell me where the 4th. North Staffs Regt were on 26th. March 1918, please? A friend is eager to find where his grandfather fell (his name appears on the Pozieres Memorial),

Thank you,

Bob

Bob,

From the copy of a single line diary of Arnold Sibbring D.C.M. a local lad who was in the 4th N. Staffs he states,

" 23. 3. 1918 Moved out of Ypres, Belgium to go south.

24..3. 1918 Went into action at Maricourt

25. 3 1918 Retired back two miles

26 3 1918 Retiring fighting rearguards

27. 3 1918 Retired to Bruay, found rations.

Regards Cliff.

Thanks, Cliff, that's very kind. So If I was to say about 2-3 miles west of Maricourt, that would be an approximate location?
