Deerhunter Posted 2 July , 2010 Share Posted 2 July , 2010 I'm sure this must have been requested before, however, I cannot find it in my searches, so I will risk asking the same question again. I have found a reference to a specific soldier being discharged in 1919 under the category: Para 392 (xvi) of AO 29/19 Due to the date of his discharge I would imagine that this equates to upon cessation of hostilities / duration of conflict concluded (or similar), but could someone confirm or deny this please? Again, apologies if this is asking an obvious question, but I cannot find this out via searches or otherwise. Best wishes, DD
janecavell Posted 2 July , 2010 Share Posted 2 July , 2010 It means 'No longer physically fit for war service': see http://www.1914-1918.net/grandad/swb.htm
Deerhunter Posted 2 July , 2010 Author Share Posted 2 July , 2010 Poppy, many thanks. Would this man automatically have qualified for a SWB? There is nothing to that effect on his MIC, but the classification may suggest SWB allocation. Logic would suggest that, if the "reason for his being unfit for war service" was due to the effects of war service, this would entitle him to SWB. Although this may not have been the case. Does anyone know or could hazard an educated guess?
