Hi

R MacIntosh won his DCM on the 18th December 1915 in G11a Trench to the west of East Krithia Nullah. He was one of the only remaining bombing parties of the 5th Argylls, this one being under Lt A O Deas. The officer took them down a tunnel into G11a to repel a Turkish counter-attack. Cpl (at this time) R MacIntosh leapt up onto the trench side and in full view of the enemy threw bombs at them and also directed the aim of another Argyll, also called MacIntosh. His action caused others to follow his lead and the Turks were driven back up their trench.

Martin

Nemesis,

"G11a Trench to the west of East Krithia Nullah"

On the map below you can see the two forks of the Krithia Nullah join just opposite the Vineyard

Trench G11a must have been in that system between the two branches of the nullah, beneath the words 'Roseberry St.'
