Clues from Uniform in photo

Hi all,

Its been a couple of years since I have posted. Again its regarding photos from my (now-late) grandmothers collection.

This particular photo, has been puzzling us for a few weeks now. We can't find any more photos of him, in my grans collection, none of our living relatives can say "oh yes, that's great uncle charlie" etc

But if we could narrow down the regiment or anything that might help

Thanks again in advance.

Jack

Is this good better? I can try a different scan if this is still bad...

Many thanks

Could you scan the cap badge at a higher resolution?

Looks like a Cheshire's badge. E. Yorks is also a possibility.

Many thanks, will try to tie that in with family tree.

Kind regards

I'd go with E Yorks; the scroll ends touch the points of the star in this regiment's cap badge, but not in the Cheshires...

Yes, I think Peter is right, East Yorkshire Regiment.

Many thanks folks

Interesting.

A search of the appropriate surname and initial on www.east-yorkshire-regiment.co.uk

pulls up a match...

Does this match up? with any information in the photo?

"Corporal

Service Number: 14563

Battalion: East Yorkshire Regiment

Service Notes: East Yorkshire Regiment Posted wounded Snapper October 1916"

cheers

Jack
