Fedelmar Posted 25 June , 2010 Share Posted 25 June , 2010 I am not sure what this badge is. It also appears to have had the Latin wording either, filed, rubbed or it has worn off.
4thGordons Posted 25 June , 2010 Share Posted 25 June , 2010 Labour Corps? (pic pinched from an earlier thread) I think introduced post war, 1919? Chris
Fedelmar Posted 25 June , 2010 Author Share Posted 25 June , 2010 Thanks Chris ... is this one has a Quee's Crown then it would be WW2. Would the wording be the same and is it Australian or English?

Not my area but I think Queens Crown would be post 1952, still a King WWII. I believe British but wait for confirmation and yes I think the motto remained the same. Like I said let an expert confirm...badges are definitely not my strong suit. Chris

Graham Stewart Posted 25 June , 2010 Share Posted 25 June , 2010 The first badge illustrated is the Royal Pioneer Corps and not the Labour Corps. The Pioneer Corps was formed during the last war and adopted the badge of the former Labour Corps - perhaps someone remembering the design of the badge. After WWII it became the Royal Pioneer Corps, which disappeared in the 1990's being absorbed into one of the large Corps then being formed. A old pioneer told me that the Pickaxe to dig your grave Shovel to fill in the grave Rifle to mark your grave The wreath to commemerate I always remember that from a old WW1 vet who went on to serve in ww2.
