MURAT Posted 23 June , 2010 Share Posted 23 June , 2010 Hello .I recently found a pay book of a New Zealander soldier who was in the Hauraki coy of the 2nd Auckand infantry battalion. His name is John Danderson and he was killed in France near Armentière on 21 february 1917 .He fought in Gallipoli until the end of august 1915(?) Can you help me to read his pay book because some indications are difficult to understand ( H.C.N.Z for example ) Thanks PILLBOX Uploaded with ImageShack.us
roughdiamond Posted 23 June , 2010 Share Posted 23 June , 2010 The first 2 payments were made in "Anzac Cove", Last 3 "London" possibly? H.C.N.Z. High Commissioner New Zealand perhaps?
David B Posted 23 June , 2010 Share Posted 23 June , 2010 Can't really guess the authority in Malta though. HCNZ is High Commissioner New Zealand as RD says. David
janecavell Posted 24 June , 2010 Share Posted 24 June , 2010 I see that Auckland Museum has some papers about John Danderson, including letters written from Malta which would tie in with the info in the pay book.
