CROONAERT Posted 23 June , 2010 Share Posted 23 June , 2010 Anybody well up on the Belgian army numbering system? If so, could you explain to me, please, why a soldier (class of 1914, if it helps any!) whose army number was 55706 would be listed as having the army number 101/61.678 on his war graves listing? (I've come across quite a lot of similar cases too)... or is it a case that the Belgian Army ran a numbering system on the French style and, so, many soldiers would have had 2 totally seperate numbers? thanks, Dave. CROONAERT Posted 30 June , 2010 Author Share Posted 30 June , 2010 Anybody well up on the Belgian army numbering system? I take it that that's a 'no' then? Ah well, I'll presume that they used the French system* then as that's the only explaination that (so far) makes sense to me. *(whereby there is a matricule de recrutement and a matricule au corps issued (with yet another seperate liste matricule number issued in the case of voluntary enlistments!)
