Details on Medal Card

According to his Medal Card John Griffiths Pte 488 RWF went to Gallipoli 8/8/1915. He is also shown as Labour Corps 500740. (He does not have the 1917 renumbered number shown even though Lab Corps were not formed until after that event)

The Medal Card states 'Died 18/2/1919'

I can't see anything on CWGC.

I have had a good trawl through Service and Pensions but can't spot him.

As far as his RWF number is concerned. It's too low for a Regular Army or 4th Bn (TF). 488 in 5th Bn TF is accounted for which leaves him as either 6th or 7th, both TF

I have had a look at all John Griffiths in that Qtr and nothing jumps out from the geographical areas covered by those two units. If he was 6th he would have enlisted around March 1909 and if 7th possibly late 1909/early 1910 although their numbering is not straightforward.

So my questions are

a) Can anyone spot him

b ) Would the card be marked if he died post service.

c) If not then is it sufficient to submitt even though were not sure yet where he's from or where he's buried.

(I have considered Griffith/Griffiths in my searches)

D'oh. I'm mystefied how I missed him!

My only (feeble) excuse is that I expected him to come up in the index under the 500 number.

Thanks Phil. Always good to have a fresh pair of eyes looking
