Richard Matlock Posted 19 June , 2010 Author Share Posted 19 June , 2010 Thanks both , the ones from mountsorrel and notts would seem the best chance as they are local to me, has he any service papers or pension records ? wonder why he ended up in the labour corps Thanks again Rich m
Ivor Lee Posted 20 June , 2010 Share Posted 20 June , 2010 RichM He was one of the men transferred to the Labour Corps when the Garison Guard Companioes became part of the Corps in late 1917. I would placew him in either 852 or 853 Company who were on the Lines of Communication during late 1917 and early 1918 - sorry no locations at this time. So there is a good possibility that, on enlistment he has been classified as fit for Garrison service overseas or, of course, had been injured or become ill whilst in France.
