Remembered Today:

9th Cameronians (Scottish Rifles)

National Archives don't seem to be able to print sections of diaries. Twice I've had knockbacks on two different batallions.

I don't understand why and unfortunately I'm too far away to make a personal visit.

My only hope therefore is that someone can help me with detail from April through July 1916.

Help would be much appreciated.

TIA

David

Hi David. The History of the Ninth Division by John Ewing MC"

From the end of January, to the end of May, the 9th Division held the same line, which was one of the most pleasant areas along the British front. "

" On 4th of May, the 9th Scottish Rifles, replaced the Royal Scots Fusiliers "

" The stay of the Division near Ploegsteert soon drew to a close. On the 20th May, instructions werereceived from the Corps that that it was to be relieved by the 41st Div before the 1st of June. The relief was commenced on on the 27th of May, and completed on the 30th. Tus ended a most agreeable experience of trench duty, "

It looks like you can get the 9th Scottish Rifles diary from May 1916 HERE
