Pte William TODD MM 86332 Special Service, Australian Infantry, A.I.F. Died 09.01.20 Age 30 Commemoration: Sydney Memorial, NSW, Australia NOT FORGOTTEN The above is an In From the Cold Project case (Volunteer: Andy Massard) Pte Todd was discharged from the army in February 1919 but re-enlisted for further service. He died of emphysema aboard the ‘Koningen Louise’ while returning to Australia for final demobilisation. He was buried at sea. He is the first WW1 casualty to be commemorated on the Sydney Memorial which is reserved for men of the Australian forces who died in eastern and southern parts of the country or in adjacent waters and who have no known grave.
