Hi Joe.

Just has Grant has posted, and, probably a draft to the battalion mid 1917.

Bit confusing this Joe, as they came out of the line, near Langemarck (Bulow Farm area) about the 30th September.

Possible that Arthur was killed during the relief i would guess on the night 30th/1st October.

Best wishes.

Chris.

Hello Joe,

Welcome to the forum.

If you follow the link above to Find a Grave and then follow the link on that page to The International War Graves Photography Project, it looks like they have a photo of the grave.

As for a photo of the man himself, if the family doesn't have one, your best bet might be to look up the local newspaper archive to see if his death was reported in the local 'paper.

Cheers,

Nigel

Joe,

Would look like he joined the 4th Reserve Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment in February 1917 this was with a large draft from the Army Service Corps. Some of his peer group transferred to the West Yorkshire Regiment in June 1917.

Regards Charles

Joe. As has been said, your best bet for his photograph is the local newspaper, I have found 150+ of my men, one or two many months after they were killed, so keep at it, you never know. Good hunting. Ralph.
