Can anyone identifie the piece of metal next to the bayonet? It has exactly the same shape as the tip of a shoe... If this can help: it's found on near a Belgian/French trench.

I make ashtrays out of two them when my workboots wear out. I weld two together. Yeah I am a cheapskate but herself cannot break them by throwing them at me or on the floor.

The steel toe-cap from a boot, perhaps. If so, it's upside-down in the pic.

If it is, it's from the left boot. Is there a chance it's from the war?
