laughton Posted 7 March , 2003 Share Posted 7 March , 2003 A little bit of history is gone from Canada today with the passing of Charles Reaper, which as reported in the Toronto Star, was the last surviving Canadian infrantry soldier from Vimy. I am not sure how (or if we can) put attachments here, so I have posted a copy of the notice on our web site at: http://www.pollutechinternational.com/grea...twar/reaper.pdf It is seldom that the Great War stories reach our papers in Canada, unless it is the anniversary of Vimy or a Victoria Cross winner has passed away. Thought some of you historians would be interested in this report from Canada.

john w. Posted 7 March , 2003 Share Posted 7 March , 2003 The quote . . . "we really are losing a national treasure every time a World War 1 veteran passes away" rather sums up the whole ethos of why we are here. John
laughton Posted 8 March , 2003 Author Share Posted 8 March , 2003 My apologies to David et al, I did not see the earlier post. Chris I don't know how to remove my posting but it should be removed as it is clearly a duplicate.
