River97 Posted 1 June , 2010 Share Posted 1 June , 2010 Evening all, I have another question regarding the wearing of cap badges, this time for the 3rd Battalion, London Regiment. Did they wear the badge of the Royal Fusiliers, or did they wear the cap badge with the '3' on it - like the 'Shiny Seventh'? Thanks for any help Cheers Andy. jwp2007 Posted 1 June , 2010 Share Posted 1 June , 2010 Hi Andy, my grandfather served with the 3rd london regiment in 1918 and they wore the badge of the royal fusiliers, regards, John.
Steven Broomfield Posted 1 June , 2010 Share Posted 1 June , 2010 1st to 4th Battalions all wore standard RF badge, I believe.
River97 Posted 1 June , 2010 Author Share Posted 1 June , 2010 John and Steve, Thanks for your help. I had read that they wore the badge of the Royal Fusiliers, however, have seen numerous sites that have the badge with the three for sale. Needed some clarification. Cheers Andy. max7474 Posted 1 June , 2010 Share Posted 1 June , 2010 The badge with the 3 on it was pre1908. The all w/m one shown above is correct. The bi-metal ones with a 3 (instead of a 7) are fakes using fake 7th london style grenades.
7t2ndswinger Posted 1 June , 2010 Share Posted 1 June , 2010 The all nickel badge with the 3 on the grenade is a collar/field service cap for the 3rd London Rifle Volunteers who became the 7th Battalion City of London Regiment.
