Stanley_C_Jenkins Posted 27 May , 2010 Share Posted 27 May , 2010 It appears that 23686 Lucy Harris of Cogges, Witney does not have a headstone and she is not on the Witney war memorial. Although she has been mentioned in another thread, it seems appropriate to add something to this thread, as she is a definite "non-commemoration". Stanley_C_Jenkins Posted 27 May , 2010 Author Share Posted 27 May , 2010 I am not quite sure what is meant by "non-commemorated" - I thought it meant not on any war memorial?
Tonym Posted 27 May , 2010 Share Posted 27 May , 2010 Non-Commemorated (usually referred to as non-com) means that the person is not commemorated by the CWGC in this case she is but If, as you say she has no headstone, it could be various reasons, one that immediately springs to mind, 'Relatives Refused' Tony
