SiegeGunner Posted 22 May , 2010 Share Posted 22 May , 2010 Thanks for this one, Mike. It seems to be a US reprint of the first edition of 'German Military Terms' produced by General Staff (Intelligence), GHQ. The second, enlarged edition, 'German Military Terms 1918' has been republished by the IWM in association with Battery Press (ISBN 1-870423-53-4). green_acorn Posted 22 May , 2010 Share Posted 22 May , 2010 Mike, Thank you for all of your psots from archive.org, I do look forward each visit to seeing what you have managed to dig up. As Mick F has suggested it is indeed a reprint of the 1917 version of the British handbook (it says in the cover reprinted from a British document). You will never get them to admit it today, and despite Pershing's apparent Anglo phobia, but all US Army doctrine since 1917 has a solid foundation in British and French doctrine as of 1917. Just a pity every half-generation they allow their War and Staff Colleges students loose with the thesaurus, who then reinvent all the terminology and processes! Cheers, Hendo
