Officers No1 Dress & Patrol Dress leatherwork

Hi gents,

....am trying to find info on wether officers No1 Dress & Patrol Dress leather items were brush polished or bulled? I'm interested in the black boots, leather chinstrap, and the peak of the cap! Reason i ask is that i'm assembling a Patrol Dress uniform for a new museum in essex. I've seen some photies at the raf museum showing RFC No1 Service Dress caps with a bulled (or painted) leather chinstrap, but with a brush polished peak!! I know from previous experience in the Junior Leaders boys service that we had to bull the chinstraps and the peaks of our OR's SD caps as we still had the old type leather fitted ones before the new type ones (with the plastic chinstraps & peaks) - maybe that was just part of the 'bulls**t' just to keep us 16yr olds busy - lol!

Any info would be greatly appreciated!
