barkalotloudly Posted 11 May , 2010 Share Posted 11 May , 2010 Good afternoon, arrived today, a lovely leather bound copy of this book, it contains a full list of the units involved, awards to European and native troops, in most cases a description of how they won, and a Roll of honour for the European contingent. A very detailed account of these operations best regards John
george emmons Posted 12 May , 2010 Share Posted 12 May , 2010 John: If it is not too much trouble, please see if there is any mention of C/Sgt C (harles) L (eslie) Chandless, A/RSM, KAR contained in your book? Would be most appreciative of any details found. Best Regards, George
barkalotloudly Posted 13 May , 2010 Author Share Posted 13 May , 2010 Good evening George, apologies for not replying sooner, there appears to be no mention of your man, have you looked in the history of the K A R written {i think } by Lloyd -Jones 1926 best regards John
george emmons Posted 13 May , 2010 Share Posted 13 May , 2010 John, Many Thanks for your reply. Too bad Chandless is not mentioned. The KAR history is not readily available on this side of the pond. Will have to see if it is on-line, or maybe some one reading this might just do that as a favour. C L Chandless won an MM for Nigeria in 1918, or at least that's what the Gazette says. Perhaps he never did get to the other side of Africa. Best Regards, George
