Guest KM787 Posted 11 May , 2010 Share Posted 11 May , 2010 Hello all, I'm hoping someone can help me trace a Silver War Badge that my family recently discovered to have been my grandfathers'. The # on the back reads 243976. In typical fashion for that generation, we hear that he never spoke about his time in the service so, any details at this point would be a great and priceless find for our entire clan. Stebie9173 Posted 20 May , 2010 Share Posted 20 May , 2010 Previously numbered 4189 prior to the 1917 renumbering when he was given number 240955. Embarked to France on 5-12-1915. Card is marked 5th Seaforth Highlanders, presumably the 1/5th Battalion of 152nd Brigade of the 51st (Highland) Division. Steve.
