Yet another chap that has baffled atleast 4 knowledgeable people.

R. Dale, Australian Imperial Force, is remembered on Madeley Civic Memorial. Having checked the Australian records there are a number of R. Dales but with no obvious links to Shropshire. I have been able to trace Dale's residing in Madeley in one of the census' but i have not got any futher

I suspect the R. Dale might have been Australian born, perhaps his grand parents were from Shropshire. However there are no R. Dale Australian Casualties.

Can you help?

Neil

In the absence of others:

Could he have been buried in Madeley, dying from wounds or illness with some distant relative?

Whilst there is no R Dale in AIF Casualties, there are 2 R DALEY's Could it be a mistake on the Memorial?

Then there is this chap....

Name: DAVIES, HENRY

Rank: Private

Regiment/Service: Australian Infantry, A.I.F.

Unit Text: 11th Bn.

Additional information: Nephew of Eliza Vernon, of 11, Belle Vue Rd., Ironbridge, Salop, England. Native of Madeley, Salop.

Memorial: LONE PINE MEMORIAL

Best I can do, I'm afraid.....

I've checked the 2 Daleys for any connection with out sucess. Henry Davies is on the memorial.

I've gone down the route of checking the local records, paper etc.
