Remembered Today:

Two numbers on MIC - What does it mean?

I have the MIC for Albert George Wright which shows two entries for Albert as follows:

1/1 Bucks Pte 2366, followed by Ox and Bucks LI CPL 265695

I have collected most of the information available about Albert (through another forum post) but, would now like to specifically know why there are the two service numbers, why they are different and what if anything that means?

Any knowledgeable person out there who can help me please.

Thanks

Karan

The 1/1 Bucks (Buckinghamshire) were a Territorial force Battalion of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry (Ox and Bucks), see below: -

In 1917 Territorial force Soldiers were allocated new numbers from a block allocated to each Regiment, Alberts 2nd number is part of that block 265001 - 290000, read below for an explanation and scroll down to "Ox and Bucks Light Infantry" you'll see in the right hand column it notes "allocated to Bucks Bn": -
