Army Numbers -1st South Wales Borderers

Please can any Forum members with expertise in army number issuing advise when number 10699 may have been issued?

My relative Cpl John Thomas Gage died of wounds in September 1915. The local newspaper said that he had been in the army for four or five years but he was not a soldier in the 1911 census.

He was with the 1st SWB when they landed in France in August 1914. He was wounded three times in action. Can I find any official records of him being wounded - I know the month and years but not the dates?

Thank you for any help

David

A quick search on Ancestry shows that the South Wales Borderers number #10690 was allocated on 26th October 1911 and #10712 on 9th December 1911, so 10699 would have been sometime between the two.
