Peridot Posted 30 April , 2010 Share Posted 30 April , 2010 Hi All The above is my wife's great uncle and was killed in action in December 1917. Does anyone know anything about him as she does not seem to be able to find out any details. I haven't checked her sources of reference but did say what to look for and that seems to have drawn a blank. Thanks Peridot
GraemeClarke Posted 30 April , 2010 Share Posted 30 April , 2010 Peridot There are 2 on the SDGW, one died 5/4/18 and the other 19/12/15 so I presume its the latter John Charles Pearson. Private 7732, 1st Battalion, King's Shropshire Light Infantry. Born Much Birch, Hereford Enlisted Preston Killed in action Medal Index card states drafted overseas 10/9/14 and confirms he is deceased. Cant seem to find him on Commonwealth War Graves though, still looking. Does the address seem correct ? Graeme

Peridot Posted 1 May , 2010 Author Share Posted 1 May , 2010 Thanks Graeme and Malcolm-the Preston connection is correct and this is the correct man. He had a brother Edward who survived the War and was mentioned in Despatches and was in the Army Veterinary Corps. We have the War Diary for that but haven't been able to trace the London Gazette entry tho having a reference. Thanks again. Peridot
