Help needed to find records

Hi,

I would be grateful if anyone would be able to give any information on Robert Smyth.

He was in the Royal Irish Rifles, service number 9891 (I think) he lived in Neely Street Belfast.

My friend is trying to research her family history but struggling with military records. With thanks to forum users last year we were able to track down her fathers records, now she is trying to research her uncle with no success.

Thanks.

the 1911 census has a Robert Smyth in Neely St with parents William and MArgaret :

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/page..._Street/182992/

but the service record for 9891 Robert Smyth shows him as enlisting in Jan 1912 aged 18 with parents as Robert (deceased) and Maggie Smyth of 36 Clonalton St, Belfast. Brother John and Samuel (deceased) Record is burnt so there may be more. A partial note to Dromore RIC at the time of enlistment (presumably a background check); a letter to ?? Smyth, Church St, Dromore (can't make out date). Some issues on his conduct sheet including stealing a silver watch in Andover, Wiltshire.

Lists a nephew Robert Smyth aged 4, a niece Florrie Corrie(?) aged 3 and a relative John Maguinness aged 47 Dromore on a document dated September 1919.

Entry with 26 FA (Field Ambulance?) GSW Head. DoW, BAC ST MAUR? 12/11/1915
