Hi All.

I wished I had seen this earlier.

Burial at BILLING ROAD CEMETERY.

James Herbert James of 37 Lorne Road, aged 26 years, interned 4th August died July 30th 1921

was buried in grave no. 2509.

There is only Martin at the Cemetery Office from next week for awhile (he was/is the

Monumental Headstone Inspector) as dear Chris (Mrs) is leaving this Friday after

being the main Cemetery officer for years.

Chris will be sorely missed by me for her expertise, helpfulness, and allowing me access to

information for my project, which was extensive.

Sandy / Kate

Bit of a contradiction here first Kate states Billing Road then Kingsthorpe now Sandy has come up with Billing Road again they surely didn't move him or is it another James James. His fathers name was James James maybe one of the graves is his.

HI Ray.

The information I posted is correct.

It was BILLING ROAD CEMETERY.

The area was Section 33.Row 3. Grave 7.

Ray the information you scanned already had his grave no as 2509.

Sandy,

I don't dispute what you say, but the details I posted at #24 came verbatim from a telephone conversation with the Cemeteries Office, so I'm nonplussed as to why they should be at variance with your information.

The office staff gave me a location in Kingsthorpe, said they had already taken a look themselves, and gave details to enable any visitor to find it within a couple of minutes.

How come the grave is now in Billing Road?

HI Kate.

I never knowingly give in-correct information always checking before listing.

There was no burial at Kingsthorpe Cemetery on the 4th August 1921.

I can see roughly by the maps of the cemetery where the listing you mention

would be though.

Do you yourself have any other information i.e. years of death for Coles or Stanton.

Please feel free to contact the cemetery office again.

Or I can send Ray the evidence if still the facts stated are unproven.

Hi All.

Just to up-date.

I have sent the information to Ray confirming burial place as Billing Road Cem.

I hope that James now gets the recognition through Ray's acceptance by the CWGC.

Lest we forget. :poppy:

Sandy, I have not been on Forum much this week.

I may well be visiting Billing Road Cemetery during the week. Can you give me a location please?

By the way, I have no other info for Coles and Stanton. I was told over thephone that James' grave was between them, as the easy way of finding him in Kingsthorpe. Perhaps I should ring the Cemeteries Department again and ask why they have wasted everyone's time.

One thought that does cross my mind is that perhaps the wrong details were written on the original form. Looking at it again, the space where the name was written does have the appearance of something having been erased.

Hi Kate.

I think poor Martin will be running around like a mad man.

I do not think a marker would be able to be left at the moment.

As to wasting folks time I think it may have been a bit of confusion,

not a deliberate act to mis-inform. Just my thoughts.

Well done Ray.

Thanks for all your help, shame he couldn't have a headstone when we know where he is buried, at least he gets commemorated now.
