MIB037 Posted 22 April , 2010 Share Posted 22 April , 2010 I am researching Hillyer William Avenell (Born 1893). So far I have managed to locate his service record which has given quite a bit of information, a rarity. However due to the quality of some of the pages I was wondering if anyone could confirm any other sources where I can nail down his locations during the 11 years he served. Even any other information that I have wrongly interpreted or not identified would be great. 17 Jan 1911: Enlisted: 3rd Wessex Brigade, Royal Field Artillery (Wiltshire Battery) Service No.: 683 / 2256? ralphjd Posted 22 April , 2010 Share Posted 22 April , 2010 Mark. Very interesting papers for your man if I may say so, anyway 26-6-13 promoted Corporal (Cpl) and yes 17-11-1914 district court martial, nothing must have come of it for his service to be classed as exemplory and doubt if he would have received the Territorial Efficiency Medal if he had been convicted of anything.
