His name was Samuel Cooper and we have a picture of him in uniform, bearing the cap badge on THE ARMY CYCLIST CORPS. However, I have been on the National Archive website, which turns up no Samuel Cooper in this Corps. Would the ARMY CYCLIST CORPS come under any other name, ASC for example? He was raised and resided in/around Hastings, Sussex, though he was possibly born in London. He was orphaned at a very young age and adopted to a Sussex family, his birth name was Bacon, if I remember correctly. I thought he might have been too young to 'join up' and used the name Bacon, but I can't find any record for that name either. It's a quandry. Thanks for the interest. Wes.
