Hello Mike,

thanks for this reference. I see Eastcote , the elder name for Pattishall-Towcester, is mentioned and there are a couple of pictures of this camp in the book. So as my grandfather must have experienced it. A useful source for my investigations. :thumbsup:

But the most of his time in England, more than two years, he spent in labour camps in various sites in England. He was used as farmhand and had his best time on a farm near Mendlesham at Ipswich. A wonderful secure place to survive the war.

Here is a only pic of those days as prisoner. He is cloathed in a nice mixture of British and German parts of uniform.
