Guest whyste Posted 19 April , 2010 Share Posted 19 April , 2010 Hi, I am looking for information on my great-grandfather - Daniel O'Connor. I believe he was a private in the 2nd Royal Scots and enlisted in 1915/1916. He lived at 130 Fountainbridge St, Edinburgh and was born in Cork, Ireland in 1887. I think he was also a photographer in the army but not sure if this is actually the case. I would appreciate any information people could give on him as I seem to have drawn a blank everywhere else! Thanks, Stephen
sotonmate Posted 19 April , 2010 Share Posted 19 April , 2010 Stephen Welcome to the Forum ! There are no D O'Connor in the Royal Scots in the Medal Index Card lists. There are quite a few in that Regiment with Christian names from E to W. If he was a photographer maybe he didn't go overseas, which would explain why no Medal Card is there for someone with the name starting with D. Guest whyste Posted 19 April , 2010 Share Posted 19 April , 2010 Hi - thanks for that. I know he was based in Scotland in 1917 as we found a death cert for his daughter who died there in 1917 and this listed him as a photographer and a private in the 2nd Royal Scots. We also know that he returned to Ireland after the war as he received a house from the government after the war and he lived there until he died in the 1930s.
