kennill Posted 19 April , 2010 Share Posted 19 April , 2010 Hello all I have recently aquired a British War medal to an Officer in the RNVR Anti Aircraft Corps. Can any kind soul enlighten me please as to what uniform these chaps actually wore? Would it be a Naval type uniform or something more along the lines of the uniform worn by the RND? Any advice gratefully received. Ken
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 20 April , 2010 Share Posted 20 April , 2010 The RNVR Anti Aircraft Corps was a unit of the RNVR and their uniform would depend upon where the man was deployed: at home or overseas. The corps was disbanded in 1916. Have you seen this thread? http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums/i...p;#entry1368819
kennill Posted 20 April , 2010 Author Share Posted 20 April , 2010 Thanks for your response and the useful link. Actually he served atop the Foreign office Building in London. Your date also explains why he resigned his commission in 1916. Ken
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 21 April , 2010 Share Posted 21 April , 2010 Naval and Military Press have re printed: Notes and Orders for Officers Anti-Aircraft Corps of the Royal Naval Air Service (London Division) 1915. There are several useful files at the UK National archives, Kew. Have you checked in case he joined another service or branch of the RN? Many men went into the RNAS. kennill Posted 22 April , 2010 Author Share Posted 22 April , 2010 Thank you for that information. I am absolutely sure he served only with the RNVR AA Corps. I have ordered the book from Amazon. (Even though I am a Medal Collector I find I have more books than medals.) I suppose we are all in the same game really............ Ken
