Caunter and Fox both escaped from Schwarmstedt, Fox 16 hours after Caunter with another officer. They bumped into each other en-route but crossed the border separately. Caunter was awarded the MC and Fox MID for their escape. Caunter told his story in 13 Days, The Chronicle of an Escape from a German Prison available to read on the internet.
